Fairy Stone National Park Camping Trip

The whole Moyer clan decended on the Fairy Stone National Park in southern VA Friday late afternoon. It was the first time in about four years that we had all been together in the same place. Jeff and I did a mapquest for directions and it took us the BACK WAY, but we managed.

The weather forecast was rain rain and more rain. Luckily the rain tapered off just enough for us to have some fun instead of being forced to huddle the whole time underneath Randy and Anne's RV awning.

On Sat we went Fairy Stone hunting, Megan didn't do much hunting but she sure had a good time with her Unlces and cousins.

Madison is pictured here with her fairy stone loot. Apparently a fairy stone is a mineral the forms in a bar shapes and sometime they criss cross forming an x shape or a cross shape and they were believed to give a person good luck.

Here is some local wild life. My sister and I and the kids were taking a stroll around the campsite and I spied this little orange salamandar in the road. Isn't he just the sweetest thing.

The second night we were there the rain really started to poor down in the middle of the night. My Dad and two brothers where in a tent and they woke up to a tent full of water, it was literally raining inside their tent. Dad and Mark retreated to the van and Randy joined Anne in the suburban. We new this weekend wouldn't be about good sleep, lol. Always good to have a few horror stories to tell later.
love, m
